| Effects of discharge planning on self-care ability and life quality after laryngocarcinoma surgery |

Abstract Objective To study the effects of discharge planning on self-care ability and life quality after laryngocarcinoma surgery. Methods The clinical data on 105 laryngocarcinoma patients treated between January 2016 and December 2017 in our hospital was obtained. After operation, all these patients conformed to the criteria of discharge from hospital and were randomly assigned to the control group (n=52) and research group (n=53). The control group received conventional nursing and telephone follow-up visits while the research group was subjected to discharge planning. Self-care ability and life quality were compared between the two groups.Results Before intervention, the scores of self-care ability and life quality were not significantly different between the two groups (P＞0.05), but after intervention, such scores in the research group were significantly higher than those of the control group (P＜0.05),so was the overall satisfaction rate in the research group (P＜0.05). Conclusions Discharge planning can remarkably improve patients’s self-care ability, life quality and nursing satisfaction. This approach should be made more accessible.
