Expression levels and correlations of blood betatrophin, HbA1c and 25-(OH)VitD3 in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus |

Abstract Objective To investigate the expressions of and correlations between blood betatrophin, HbA1c and 25-(OH)VitD3 in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM).Methods Eighty patients with GDM admitted to our hospital between January 20 and December 2018 were enrolled as the study group, while another eighty healthy pregnant women were selected as the control group. The blood concentrations of betatrophin, HbA1c, and expression levels of 25-(OH)VitD3 were compared.Results The expression levels of betatrophin and HbA1c in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group, while the expression levels of 25-(OH)VitD3 were significantly lower. The incidence of vitamin deficiency in the study group (86.25%) was significantly higher than that in the control group. The difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Pearson correlation analysis showed that blood HbA1c levels were positively correlated with betatrophin levels (r1=0.452) but negatively correlated with 25-(OH)VitD3 levels (r2=-0.556). There was a negative correlation between blood 25-(OH)VitD3 levels and betatrophin levels (r=-0.358), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Unconditional logistic regression analysis showed that HbA1c and 25-(OH)VitD3 were risk factors and protective factors for GDM (P<0.05) respectively.Conclusions The levels of blood betatrophin, HbA1c and 25-(OH)VitD3 are closely related to GDM. Immediate vitamin D supplementation during pregnancy can help control blood sugar and reduce the incidence of GDM.
