Protection effect of kinesio taping on lower extremity military training injuries after intensive physical training |

Abstract Objective To explore the protection effect of kinesio taping(KT) on lower extremity military training injuries after intensive physical training program.Methods Fifty-one subjects from June 2019 to July 2019were randomly divided into KT group (n=17), placebo tape group (n=17) and stretching group (n=17), and the visual analogue scale (VAS), range of motion (ROM), Lysholm score, thigh circumference and other related indicators were compared between the three groups at immediately post-exercise,24 h, 48 h and 72 h after 10 km of armed raid.Results The scores of VAS of KT group was lower than the other two groups at corresponding time points after training(P<0.05), at 48 h and 72 h post-training KT group obviously improved the ROM (P<0.05), Lysholm score was improved compared with the other two groups (P<0.01) at 48 h post-training, the VAS score of the stretching group was lower than that of the placebo tape group and the ROM improvement in stretching group was superior to the latter at 72 h with significant difference (P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in thigh circumference within or between the three groups during recovery.Conclusion KT is favorable in the recovery of lower limb muscle soreness after high intensity training, enhances the stability of knee joint, and has beneficial effect on range of motion, which can be used for the prevention and treatment of lower limb military training injuries.
