Abstract Objective To explore the residual symptoms and related risk factors of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) caused by military training injuries after reduction treatment. Methods A total of 196 patients with BPPV due to military training injuries diagnosed in the Vertigo Clinic of the 989 Hospital of the Joint Logistic Support Force from January 2019 to December 2021 were collected for reduction treatment using the SRM-Ⅳ diagnosis and treatment system. The incidence rate, clinical characteristics and related risk factors of residual symptoms after reduction treatment were collected. Results All the cases were successfully repositioned, and the incidence of residual symptoms was 31.1% (61/196), including 34.4%(21/61) of dizziness, 27.9% (17/61) of instability during activity, 21.3% (13/61) of neck tightness and discomfort, 8.2% (5/61) of floating feeling in bed, 4.9% (3/61) of two residual symptoms, 1.6% (1/61) of three and 1.6% (1/61) of four. The occurrence of residual symptoms was related with the length of medical history and the number of reduction, but not with gender and the type of semicircular canal involved. Conclusions After the successful reduction of BPPV caused by training injuries, there are still some residual symptoms, such as dizziness, instability during activity, neck tightness discomfort, etc. The occurrence of residual symptoms is related with the course of the disease and the number of reduction, but has nothing to do with gender and the type of semicircular canal involved.
