Abstract:Objective To investigate the level of blood plasma Lp-PLA-2 in patients with acute cerebral infarction complicated by metabolic syndrome(MS) and to investigate the correlation between LP-PLA and MS. Methods We studied 74 hospitalized patients with acute cerebral infarction. They were divided into MS group and non-MS group according to the criteria of MS published by International Diabetes Federation (IDF). The level of blood plasma Lp-PLA-2 and blood serum TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C was detected by ELISA. Results Significant difference was observed between patients with acute cerebral infarction complicated by MS in levels of plasma Lp-PLA-2 and non-MS group (38.87±5.44 vs 36.44±4.15, P =0.037). The level of serum triglyceride(TG) was also higher ( P <0.05). Conclusions MS induces elevation of the level of plasma Lp-PLA-2.
