Abstract:Objective To study the value of treadmill exercise testing in diagnosis of silent myocardial ischemia(SMI). Methods ECG stress tests with maximal treadmill exercise were compared with coronary angiography in 145 patients. Results The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy rates of treadmill exercise ECG testing in the diagnosis of SMI were89.3%,67.2%,and 80.0%,respectively. The patients with multi-vessel disease did not have a higher positive rate of treadmill exercise ECG testing than those with single vessel disease. Female patients had a higher false positive rate than male patients. Conclusion The treadmill exercise testing is a simple and effective method for the diagnosis of silent myocardial ischemia.
