Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effects of hyaluronic acid sodium eye drops combined with recombined human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) eye drops on dry eye after laser in situ keratomileusis. Methods All 57 cases (114 eyes) with dry eye symptom after laser in situ keratomileusis within 1 year were recruited and randomly divided into two groups, the trial group and thecontrol group. In the trial group, the patients were treated with hyaluronic acid sodium eye drops and rhEGF eye drops. In the control group, the patients were treated with only hyaluronic acid sodium eye drops. The subjective dry eye symptoms, fluorescein staining (FL), Schirmer I test (SIt) and tear breakup time (BUT) were observed under the slit lamp before treatment, the second week, and the fourth week after treatment. Results There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). After treatment, the subjective dry eye symptoms, FL, SIt and BUT were significantly different (P<0.01). Conclusions Combined use of hyaluronic acid sodium and rhEGF can show better therapeutic effects than the single use of the eye drops on the dry eye symptom after LASIK.
