Effect of pulsed radiofrequency treatment of nerve root for acute herpes zoster

Abstract:Objective To study the effects of pulsed radiofrequency treatment of nerve root for acute herpes zoster. Methods This study is a prospective randomized controlled trial.Fifty-five patients,were recruited and randomly distributed into trial group(28 cases, treated with pulsed radiofrequency treatment of nerve root of corresponding segment for one time,oral analgesic drug and antiviral drug) and control group(27 cases, treated with oral analgesic drug and antiviral drug). Results There were significant difference in incidence rate of postherpetic neuralgia(P<0.05). Visual analog pain score of one day,four days,seven days and half a year later(P<0.05). Conclusions Pulsed radiofrequency treatment of nerve root with conventional drug therapy improves clinical effect on the patients with acute zoster.
