Abstract:Objective To investigate the incidence of functional constipation (FC) in navy and to analyze relevant factors, drawing up pro-cautionary measure to control FC scientifically and finally ensure the battle effectiveness of navy units. Methods During December 2009 to December 2010, 12032 servicemen in an navy unit were investigated by Muti-stage stratified random cluster sampling survey with questionnaire. We chose the Rome Ⅲ Standard epidemiological survey (Rome Ⅲ-MQ) and did some life quality evaluation with the SF-36 life quality scale (HRQOL). We also analyzed the dangerous factors of FC by muti factor LOGISTIC regression analysis. Results A total of 11895 valid questionnaires were received. The incidence rate of FC in that unit was group FC incidence for 12. 51%. By muti factor LOGISTIC regression analysis, we found that the pathogenic facors of FC included eating spicy food, drinking alcohol, oftenly restraining defecate, lack of vegetable and fruits, anxiety, poor physical activity, which value OR were all>1. Conclusions The incidence rate of FC in navy was significantly high with considerably much dangerous factors. Scientific and effective therapeutic intervention measures would be very important to ensure the physical and mental health of navy soldiers and to finally improve the battle effectiveness.
