Abstract:Objective To determine the test-retest reliability of swallowing function assessment by digital accelerometry for swallowing imaging (DASITM), specially for the elderly. Methods Thinty-three volunteers were assessed dry swallowing 4 times with DASITM, get the mean data of peak of swallowing (PS), onset of swallowing (OS) and duration of swallowing (DS) with the Software providing imaging and physiology measurements. Retest was performed in a week. Statistics using software SPSS 17.0 obtained the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of AS, OS and DS. Results The ICC of AS and DS were 0.767-0.914 ( P< 0.01), had very good test-retest reliability. The all volunteers’ ICC of OS was 0.410(P>0.05), had medium test-retest reliability. The OS’ test-retest reliability in the elderly was poor. Conclusions DASITM has good test-retest reliability in swallowing assessment, it is non-invasive, portable, cheap, and feasible for most dysphagia patients.
