Abstract:Objective To evaluate the medical indexes of student pilots by different distant vision classes, and to discover the scientific evidence of revising vision standard to recruit student pilots. Methods A cross-section survey was conducted to the student pilots in some year, and 290 student pilots were classified into 3 groups by different distant vision (0.8, 0.9 and above 1.0), all sampled respondents were interviewed with questionnaire, physical examination, including distant vision, hearing, heart function, pulmonary function, database was established, cleaned and analyzed by EpiData 3.02, SAS 9.13 with double entered checking. Results Different class of student pilots by distant vision have different psychological selection performance record, the group 0.9 lowest (5.40? 0.62), the group above 1.0 highest(5.89?0.62), and the other indexes including entrance examination performance, distant vision, hearing, heart function and pulmonary function were provided, different class of student pilots by distant vision have no differences. Conclusions The vision standard to recruit student pilots should combine the psychological selection performance, and to determine the index of which should carry out prospective study.
