Abstract:Objective To study the MRI features of intracranial hemangiopericytoma and improve the diagnostic accuracy of the disease. Methods We reviewed the MRI findings and clinical data of 21 cases of intracranial hemangiopericytoma confirmed by operation pathology and immunohistochemistry, and analyzed the MRI features. Results The cytomas were above the tentorium in 16 cases, while under the tentorium in 5 cases, were lobulated in 15 cases, while were round spots in 6 cases.20 cases showed well-defined margin, adjacent brain tissue was compressed and showed cortical collapse. There was no or mild peritumoral edema in 13 cases, while moderate peritumoral edema was found in 8 cases. In 18 cases they connected to the narrow base of dura, others connected to the broad base of dura. The adjacent bones were destroyed in 2 cases. MRI and T1WI and T2WI showed equal or slightly higher signs. Necrotic cysts were found in 15 cases. Vascular flow void signs were found in 17 cases. None of the lesions had calcification. Homogeneous and obvious enhancement was seen in 6 cases and heterogeneous enhancement in others for enhancement scanning, while there was no enhancement in necrotic cysts and dural tail sign was seen in 3 cases. Conclusions The MRI of intracranial hemangiopericytoma is specific, which is important for improving the diagnostic accuracy of the disease.
