Abstract:Objective To investigate the orthopedic disease classification in the military inpatients from CAPF, thereby providing scientific evidence to improve disease prevention and treatment, and allocate medical resources rationally.Methods All the military patients from 2009 to 2013 in this hospital were investigated.According to International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), data were collected and made into an Excel table. Descriptive analysis was performed using SPSS 14.0. Results Of 1048 patients, admission for the first time in 923 cases and second time in 125 cases. The largest number of patients were affected with neck and low back pain, accounting for 20.6%, followed by the lower limbs injury and joint injury, the three in total 57.5%. The hospitalization time, showing a significant difference between all kinds of diseases, the longest of which was the spine and pelvis fracture, up to (29.4±23.1) d, the least was soft tissue infection, only (15.8±8.9) d. The per capita cost, also significantly different between all kinds of diseases, was the most expensive for spine and pelvis fracture, close to ten thousand yuan. In analysis of single disease, lumbar disc herniation was most frequent, accounting for 17.6% of all diseases; followed by the metacarpal and phalangeal fractures and knee joint injury; the top 10 diseases were in 672 cases, accounting for 64.1%.Conclusions The lower limb bone and joint injury, prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc and lumbocrural pain are the most common diseases in Department of Orthopedics of Military Hospital. The average hospitalization time is long, and consumption of medical resources is the most. We should take active measures to prevent such diseases.
