Abstract:Objective To investigate the incidence of varicocele in grassroots soldiers of Zhejiang Provincial Armed Police Corps. Methods Urology specialists and local health team doctors were organized to do physical examination for grassroots soldiers in twelve branches of Armed Police Corps of Zhejiang Province and stratified cluster sampling questionnaire survey was conducted. The survey selected 2160 soldiers from these 12 teams, including 720 one-year experience soldiers, 720 two-year experience solders and 720 more than two-year experience soldiers. Results Detection 208 patients with varicocele, a 9.62% incidence of the disease. Among these patients, 114 found lay in degree Ⅰ, 56 degree Ⅱ and 38 degree Ⅲ. 39 (5.42%) one-year experience soldiers, 101 (14.03%) two-year experience solders and 68 (9.44%) more than two-year experience soldiers were found to have varicocele. It is clear that two-year experience solders have an obvious increasing rate to get varicocele than one-year experience soldiers(χ2=29.44,P<0.01).However, more than two-year experience soldiers have a decreasing rate to get varicocele than two-year experience soldiers (χ2=7.30,P<0.01). Conclusions Grassroots soldiers have long sentry duty time and training time, which increases the rate to get varicocele.
