Abstract:Objective To observe the expression of plasma urotensinⅡ(UⅡ) in the patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD), and to investigate the implication of UⅡ in the pathogenesis and progress of COPD. Methods Patients with COPD including the acute exacerbated COPD and the stable COPD and the healthy control subjects were recruited, Plasma UⅡ concentration was measured by ELISA. The patients should undergo some exam inations, such as the pulmonary function, complete blood count,bloodgas.SAS6.12 statistical software was used to analyze the data. Results Plasma UⅡ showed a higher expression in acute exacerbated COPD patients than these in stable COPD patients, both highter than in the control subjects and there was statistical significance(P<0.01).and it was correlated negatively with FEV1.0%,FEV1.0/FVC%,PaO2. Conclusions The concentration of UⅡ has a trend of increase with the deteriorated change of COPD,and may play an important role in the pathogenic process of COPD,such as hypoxia, airway obstruction and inflammation.
