Abstract:Objective To develop a systemic approach for calculation of parameters describing geometrical displacement of cutting end. Methods A mathematical model was set up for calculation of spatial displacement of cutting end in corrective osteotomy with respect to different spatial position of center of rotation of angulation (CORA), angulation correction axis (ACA) and osteotomy point. Experimental results were compared with predicted value. Results Displacement of cutting end calculated by our mathematical model fit the experimental value well with no significant difference detected (P>0.05). Relative error of prediction using our model was less than 10%, which was better than Palay’s method with significant difference(P=0.005). Conclusions Approach presented in our work is good estimation of displacement of cutting end, which potentially facilitates the preoperative planning of corrective osteotomy.
