Clinical observation of Chinese medical massage with cinnamon powder for infantile anorexia

Abstract:Objective To observe clinical therapeutic effect of the Chinese medical massage with cinnamon powder for infantile anorexia. Methods Eighty children with anorexia were divided into two groups, control group and therapy group. The control group used talcum powder as medium to implement massage; therapy group used cinnamon powder. It included two sessions, five days as a session. Liquid and solid food intake and body weight changes after treatment were observed after two sessions and differences of therapeutic effect among different patterns were compared. Results After one session, the liquid food intake in control and therapy group were (144.75±70.21)ml、(164.75±76.37)ml, solid food intake were (39.75±50.66)g、(34.50±41.01)g, and body weight changes were (151.25±225.151)g、(160.25±178.52)g. Compared with control group after one session, solid food intake and body weight changes had no obvious differences between the two groups (P>0.05).While after two sessions, after one session, the liquid food intake in control and therapy group were (77.38±51.87)ml、(139.75±67.74)ml, solid food intake were (19.75±21.18)g、(27.25±46.35)g, body weight changes were (300.75±321.44)g、(390.50±219.44)g. Both liquid food intake and body weight changes had obvious differences after two sessions (P<0.05), but there were no changes in solid food intake (P>0.05). Conclusions The Chinese medical massage with cinnamon powder has satisfactory clinical therapeutic effect in treating spleen stomach qi-deficiency type infantile anorexia, worthy of the clinical promotion.
