Abstract:Objective To observe the Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection in the upper gastrointestinal tract and its antibiotic resistance in young males of Armed Police Forces in order to facilitate medication .Methods A total of 172 young males of Armed Police Forces with upper gastrointestinal tract diseases were selected between June 2014 and March 2015. Gastric mucosa was clamped via gastroscopes and Hp was cultivated and selected. The KB test was performed to test the susceptibility of clarithromycin, metronidazole, levofloxacin, amoxicillin, tetracycline and furazolidone to Hp. Results 84 strains of Hp were isolated from the gastric mucosa of the 172 cases, and the positive incidence was 48.8%. Hp positiveness was found among 15 of the 32 chronic superficial gastritis patients, , 4 of the 8 chronic non-atrophic gastritis patients, 12 of the 26 erosive gastritis patients, 20 of the 41 gastric ulcer patients, 18 of the 35 cases of duodenal ulcer and among15 of the 18 cases of gastric combined duodenal ulcer. No significant difference was found in the detection rate of Hp between patients with chronic superficial gastritis, chronic non-atrophic gastritis, erosive gastritis, gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer. The drug susceptibility test indicated that the drug-resistance rate of 84 Hp strains to clarithromycin, metronidazole, levofloxacin, amoxicillin, tetracycline and furazolidone was 31.0%, 35.7%, 11.9%, 1.2%, 1.2%, and 0 respectively. Conclusion Hp has a high infection rate in young males of Armed Police Forces. The drug-resistance to amoxicillin, tetracycline and furazolidone is low, so these drugs should be recommended for use in Hp eradication therapy.
