Abstract:Objective To explore the role of psychological clinics in improving the psychological state of plateau troops. Methods From April to May 2015, 1021 soldiers garrisoned at high altitude were selected as subjects in the high altitude group by the stratified sampling method. The symptom checklist (SCL-90) and self rating Depression Scale (SDS) were used to assess the mental health of these soldiers on the plateau while the psychological assessment data of domestic soldiers were used as the norm for these plateau soldiers. The SCL-90 score of these soldiers before intervention was compared with the norm. After psychological assessment, all these soldiers were subjected to psychological intervention, and the SCL-90 score and SDS score of these soldiers before and after intervention were compared. Results The scores of soldiers in the high altitude group were significantly higher than the domestic norm (P<0.05). After psychological intervention, the SCL-90 score of interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, fear and SDS score of soldiers in the high altitude group were significantly reduced (P<0.05).Conclusions The plateau troops are prone to psychological problems, so regular psychological consultation for plateau troops can help find out about their psychological status. Timely intervention of plateau troops in poor psychological condition is of benefit to the mental health of grass-roots soldiers on the plateau.
