Abstract:Objective To analyze the relationship between red blood cell distribution width (RDW) and aldehyde dehydrogenase-2 polymorphism in acute coronary syndrome in China.Methods The baseline clinical data of 128 ACS patients were collected and evaluated. Aldehyde dehydrogenase-2 genotype and the distribution frequency of allele in different RDW groups were analyzed. Correlation analysis was made of ALDH gene polymorphism,the level of coronary artery disease and RDW.Results There was significant difference in high sensitive C reaction protein between different RDW groups(P<0.05).hs-CRP was (4.12±0.77)mg/L, (5.89±0.89) mg/L, (5.01±0.76)mg/L, and (7.66±0.95)mg/L respectively in groups Q1 to Q4 while CERA was (70.3±19.0)μmol/L, (76.8±21.0)μmol/L, (74.1±23.0) μmol/L, and (86.5±24.0 μmol/L) in plasma creatinine in groups Q1-Q4. There was statistically significant difference between the four groups in ALDH gene type, as in the distribution frequency of allele. There were significant positive correlations between Gensini score and RDW(r=-0.154,P<0.05 ALDH genotype had a significant effect on RDW (r=-0.386,P<0.05).Conclusions There are close correlations between ALDH genotype and RDW in ACS patients in China.
