Abstract:Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of Bailing capsules combined with eucalyptus lemon pinene enteric soft capsules on pulmonary function in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods A total of 80 COPD patients admitted to our hospital between January 2013 and May 2014 were selected as subjects in this study. They were randomly divided into two groups. One group of patients was given Budesonide and Formoterol Fumarate powder plus regular COPD treatment (conventional treatment group, n=40), while the other group was given eucalyptus lemon pinene enteric soft capsules and Bailing capsules combined with conventional therapy (combined treatment group, n=40). The pulmonary function, including forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and forced vital capacity rate of one second (FEV1/FVC), was tested in both groups of patients. The exercise capacity index and acute outbreak of COPD was recorded after six-month treatment. Results Compared with the conventional treatment group, the combined treatment group had significantly improved lung function and exercise capacity index(355.5±8.6), as was shown by elevated FEV1/FVC (62.6±7.6)%, and decreased times of acute outbreak(1.26±0.25)(P<0.05). Conclusions The effect of Bailing capsules combined with eucalyptus lemon pinene enteric soft capsules on pulmonary function in patients with COPD is significant.
