Abstract:Objective To study the clinical characteristics of solid pseudopapillary tumors of the pancreas (SPTP).Methods The clinical data on eleven patients who had undergone surgery for pathologically confirmed SPTP in our hospital between August 2013 and July 2020 was collected. The clinical characteristics, data on CT images, treatment plans and follow-up of the eleven cases were analyzed. Results The most common symptoms were abdominal discomfort and pain, and four of the eleven cases had normal results of physical examination. The diameter of tumors, which were mainly located in the head ,the body and/or tail of the pancreas, averaged 5.5 cm (ranging from 3.0 to 12.9 cm). All the patients underwent complete surgical resection, including pancreaticoduodenectomy in 5 cases and distcel pancreatectomy in 6 cases. All these cases were confirmed by immunohistochemistry. During the follow-up, no metastases or recurrences were observed. Conclusions SPTP is more common in young women. The clinical manifestations are not typical. CT examination is based on the discovery of a large, solid, cystic pancreatic mass. Imaging tests can provide diagnostic information preoperatively. The survival rate after complete resection is satisfactory.
