Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between serum procalcitonin ( PCT), serum high-sensitivity-reactive protein(hs-CRP), white blood cells(WBC), interleukin-6 (IL-6), hemoglobin (Hb) level changes and the severity of bacterial infectious pneumonia in children. Methods Ninety-eight children with bacterial infectious pneumonia admitted to our hospital from March 2019 to March 2021 were selected as the study subjects, and another 98 children with health examination during the same period were selected as the control group. Continuous variables were evaluated according to the clinical lung infection scores and divided into severe and mild groups, and the association between serum PCT, hs-CRP, WBC, IL-6, and Hb and disease severity was analyzed using statistical software. Serum from all subjects was collected for analysis, and the data showed that the levels of PCT, hs-CRP, WBC and IL-6 in the study group compared with the control group. Results The expression of PCT(μg/ml) in the control group (0.27±0.12) <mild group (1.98±0.43) <severe group (2.04±0.45); the hs-CRP (mg/L) expression in the control group (5.64±2.37) <mild group (21.27±9.13) <severe group (26.84±9.32); the expression of WBC (×109/L) in the control group (10.46±2.95) <mild group (23.05±3.79) <severe group (26.27±5.21); the expression of IL-6(pg/L) in the control group (10.23±2.46) <mild group (62.45±9.43) <severe group (96.43±12.03); the expression of Hb(g/L) in the severe group (123.43±14.85) <mild group (126.58±16.53) <control group (135.24±14.74).The difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Moreover, with a positive correlation with the severity of the disease, the r-values of PCT, hs-CRP, WBC, IL-6, and Hb were 0.085,0.910,0.941,0.957, and -0.738, respectively. According to the Logistic regression model analysis, PCT, hs-CRP, WBC, IL-6, and Hb were the independent risk factors affecting the disease progression of children with bacterial infectious pneumonia (P<0.05).Conclusions Serum PCT, hs-CRP, WBC, IL-6 and Hb are related with the serious condition of children with bacterial infectious pneumonia, which can provide diagnostic basis for combined diagnostic indicators for early bacterial infectious pneumonia in children.
