Abstract:Objective To develop cognitive failure questionnaire for soldiers (CFQ-S) and to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire. Methods Based on the definition of cognitive failure and questionnaire items related with cognitive failure, a total of 1203 soldiers were collected. Combining with the results of open-ended questionnaire and structured interview for sample 1 (n=60), an original version of CFQ-S was formed. For the prediction of sample 2 (n=400), item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were used to revise and form a formal questionnaire. The sample 3 (n=700) were tested with CFQ-S and ASRS. After two weeks, the CFQ-S was taken to retest in the sample 4 (n=43). Results CFQ-S included 12 items in three dimensions (interpersonal failure, attention/memory failure and spatial perception failure). The internal consistency reliability was 0.92. The split-half reliability was 0.87. The retest reliability of CFQ-S was 0.73. And the construct validity indicated good (χ2/df=2.92, GFI=0.96, NFI=0.96, CFI=0.98, TLI=0.96, RMSEA=0.06, RMR=0.02). The correlation between the total scores of CFQ-S and ASRS showed significant positive, r=0.68. Conclusions The CFQ-S is characterized by good reliability and validity, and it can be used to evaluate the cognitive failure for soldiers.
