Abstract:Objective To provide references for glucose detection and prevention of diabetes and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Methods From January to October 2018, a total of 805 residents in Daxing District, Beijing who had physical examinations at Guang’anmen Hospital of Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine were enrolled. The general information was collected by questionnaires to record whether they knew that they had been diagnosed with diabetes. Blood glucose, lipid, and other laboratory test items were determined after intravenous blood collection. Results Among the 698 respondents who denied a history of diabetes, 103 fasting blood glucose cases accounted for 14.8%, and 130 higher fasting plasma glucose cases (7.0 mmol/L) accounted for 18.6%. Compared with the normal fasting glucose group, triglycerides (P<0.01), fasting plasma lipoprotein (P<0.05) and small and dense low-density lipoprotein significantly increased in the fasting glucose impaired group and higher fasting blood glucose group (P<0.05), high-density lipoprotein (HDL) significantly decreased (P<0.05). In the group older than 60, the compliance rate of fasting blood glucose in the group with diabetes history was significantly higher than that in the group with a history of diabetes mellitus (80.8% vs 64.4%, P=0.026).Conclusions Among the respondents in the Daxing District of Beijing, the proportion of impaired glucose metabolism and other abnormal glucose metabolism is still high, and it is more prevalent in the subjects who have denied a history of diabetes mellitus accompanied by abnormal blood lipid metabolism. Awareness of abnormal glucose metabolism, health education, and measures of controlling high blood lipids may be critical to the intervention and the treatment for this group of people.
