Abstract:Objective To explore the correlation between traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) constitution and sleep quality of tropical military personnel. Methods TCM constitution Scale was used to determine the type of TCM constitution of officers and soldiers stationed in tropical areas, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to investigate the sleep quality, and the correlation between TCM constitution type and sleep quality was analyzed. Results Among all the subjects, 74.6% had good sleep quality (252/338) and 25.4% had poor sleep quality (86/338). Long sleep time, poor subjective sleep quality and daytime dysfunction were the main manifestations of sleep disorders. Among those with poor sleep quality (PSQI>7), 65.1% were biased, higher than those with good sleep quality, and the result was statistically significant(P<0.01). In the biased constitution, there was a positive correlation between dampness-heat quality and PSQI score. Conclusions There is a correlation between sleep condition and TCM constitution types of officers and soldiers in tropical areas. Sleep quality of gentle constitution is better, while sleep quality of biased constitution is poor.
