Abstract Objective To find out about the incidence of skin diseases in a unit of armed police while on duty or during training in Xinjiang and to formulate relevant measures of prevention. Methods 5417 soldiers were studied for five consecutive years, whose first record of skin disease was used as the registration standard. They were divided into five groups according to the time of investigation. The sample control study method was used and all the data were analyzed by primer statistical software. Results The incidence of insect bite dermatitis, contact dermatitis and psychosomatic skin disease decreased on a year-on-year basis (P0.05). Conclusion Based on different training missions and living environments, corresponding precautions should be taken to reduce soldiers' risk for skin disease.
