Abstract Objective To study the influence of evidence-based nursing intervention on the early ambulation of patient after lumbar vertebral surgery. Methods Thirty-six postoperative lumbar spine patients were randomized into two groups:the control group (n=18) and the interference groups (n=18);the control group received routine care whereas the interference group enjoyed the evidence-based nursing after the lumbar spinal internal fixation. The time of early ambulation, removal of urinary catheter, and discharge from hospital were compared. Results The time of early ambulation, removal of urinary catheter and discharge in the intervention group were earlier than those in the control group, the differences being statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions Evidence-based nursing promotes the early ambulation of patients after lumbar vertebral surgery.
