Investigation of present education and training status in medical management staff in hospitals of CAPF |

Abstract Objective To know about current situation and demand on educational training of medical management staffs in hospital of CAPF, and to improve the training mechanism of hospital management in CAPF. Methods Questionaire survey was carried out in medical management staffs in Armed Forces hospitals and reserve hospitals. The chi-square test and descriptive analysis in SPSS 17.0 was employed to analyze the data. Results 195 valid questionnaires were collected, which included 61 from leading cadres and 134 from assistants. 59% of department leaders and 29.9% of assistants think that their management skills are fully qualified or qualified for the job. The rate of department leaders who had received short-term training was highest, and the rate of assistants who had studied by themselves was highest. Most of medical management cadres received medical management education and training after elevating to management position, 29.5% of department leaders and 44.8% of assistants received training less than or equal to 1 month. 95.4% of medical management cadres think they need or completely need medical management education and training. The rate of department leaders and assistants who selected short-term training was the highest in the training form. The top three training subjects selected by department leaders were Principles of Management, Medical Care Management and Medical Economics, and the top three subjects selected by assistants were Principles of Management, Medical Care Management and Administration Psychology. Conclusions Medical management cadres are short of training in management knowledge and skill; their need for management training is significant.
