Blood lipid change characteristics servicemen of CPAPF stationed in plateau area |

Abstract Objective Through blood lipid examination anol analysis, to study the: impact of altitude, bitterly cold and hypoxic enviroment on blood lipid metabolism of servicemen in platean, thereby providing basis for training altitude troops, dealing with emergencies and medical service and management statroned. Methods 300 male officers and soldiers who just entered or were statroned in Xining (altitude 2260 m) and Golmud (altitude 2860 m) for two years or threc years were randomly selected and divided into six groups, 50 each. Their serum cholesterol (total cholesterol, TC), triglycerides (triglyceride, TG), high density lipoprotein (cholesterol(HDL-C), low density lipoprotein-cholesterol(LDL-C) and erythrocyte cholesterol (E-CH) were examined and analyzed. Results For Xining officers and soldiers, the TC and HDL-C between groups two and three were significantly different (P<0.05), the results of groups two were significantly lower than those of groups three, TG between group one and two were significantly differenct (P<0.05), TG in group one was significantly lower than those in groups two, indicating that lipid changes in Xining region are present in the officers and men, showing significant decrease of blood lipid in those stationed for two years. In Golmud officers and soldiers, lipid levels of TC, HDL-C , LDL-C, in groups one, significantly decreased (P<0.01), compared with other groups, especially for TG. Conclusions With the elevation of sea levels, male ifficers and soldiers have decreasing blood lipids, especially remarkable in higher than 2800m altitude, suggesting that in highland areas blood lipids should be monitored for the servicemen.
