Abstract Objective To study the correlation between head posture and craniofacial structure of children with normal occlusion. Methods Lateral cephalometric radiographs were taken in each of 33 children with normal occlusion under natural head posture. The craniofacial structure, cervical inclination and head posture of the samples were analyzed based on the cephalograms. Results Significant negative correlation was found between SN-VEL,SN-OPT,SN-CVT and SNA,SNB,SND,SNPo, and significant positive correlation was found between SN-VEL,SN-OPT,SN-CVT and SN-GoGn,SN-PP,SN-OP,NSGn in children with normal occlusion. Conclusions Head posture variables are correlated with craniofacial structure variables in children with normal occlusion. Significant correlation can be seen between head posture and the variables which indicate the tendency of facial development and the direction of mandibular growth.
