Abstract Objective To evaluate relevant factors for therapeutic results of the coronoid process of the ulna and their concomitant injuries. Methods Sixty-seven patients with fracture of the coronoid process were treated within an 7-year period (2003 to 2010) in this hospital. After an average of (36±20) months, treatment outcomes of 56 patients were acquired. The results were statistically analysed. Results The patients’average MEPS (Mayo Elbow Performance Score) was (80.6±18.0) points, with significant differences between the various therapy strategies. 15% of the coronoid process fractures were reconstructable to a limited extent only by means of osteosynthesis. In 33% of the patients, instabilities remained. The average extension/flexion came to (107°±28°), and pronation and supination (153°±38°). Conclusion The strongest negative prognostic parameters in this patient population are: therapy with an external fixator, immobilisation for more than 21 days, and the occurrence of complications.
