Abstract Objective To find out about the use of antibiotics in the Department of Emergency at our hospital. Methods Antibiotics prescriptions were selected from emergency prescriptions over the second half of 2015 (eye ointment, topical plasters and traditional Chinese medicine excluded). Prescriptions of antibiotics were classified and analyzed statistically, involving the use and proportion of antimicrobial agents and the combined use of antimicrobial agents. Results There were 3872 prescriptions of antibiotics among emergency prescriptions in the second half of 2015, accounting for 22.3% the total prescriptions in this department. Quinolone drugs were used most frequently, accounting for 42.9%. The use of ofloxacin ranked first, accounting for 39.8%. Prescriptions of a single drug made up 77.86%, and two-drugn prescriptions 22.14%. There were no prescriptions of three drugs. Conclusions The use of antibacterials in the Department of Emergency at our hospital in the second half of 2015 conformed to the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, but there is much to be desired.
