Abstract ObjectiveTo explore the mental health status of officers and soldiers during the outbreak of the COVID-19, and to provide data for future psychological intervention. Methods Six hundred and forty-two officers and soldiers working at a military tertiary hospital were surveyed by means of self-made general questionnaires, (generalized anxiety scale-7 GAD-7), (patient health questionnaire,PHQ-9) through cluster sampling. A Logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of anxiety and depression. Results (1)The detection rates of anxiety and depression were 29.44% and 36.45% respectively. (2)Logistic regression analysis showed that personal concerns or the family’s concerns about COVID-19 infection[OR=1.86,95%CI(1.59,2.17),P<0.05] and poor health status[OR=2.84,95%CI(1.85,4.36),P<0.05] were risk factors for anxiety. Personal concerns or the family’s concerns about COVID-19 infection[OR=0.50,95%CI(1.38,1.85),P<0.05] and poor health status[OR=3.16,95%CI(2.03,4.91),P<0.05] were risk factors for depression. Compared with the ordinary staff, jobs as frontline health care providers[OR=0.37,95%CI(0.21,0.64),P<0.05][OR=0.59,95%CI(0.36,0.95),P<0.05] or as ordinary health care providers[OR=0.37,95%CI(0.25,0.70),P<0.05][OR=0.42,95%CI(0.31,0.79),P<0.05] were both protective factors for anxiety and depression. There was no significant correlation between education levels and mental health (P> 0.05).Conclusions The incidence of psychological problems among officers and soldiers is high during the COVID-19 epidemic, which is related to negative cognition and physical health.
