Abstract Objective To detect the expressions of leukotriene B4 receptors in epidermis of psoriasis vulgaris and study the correlations between BLT1, BLT2 and the pathogenesis of psoriasis. Methods Thirty specimens of paraffin tissue of psoriasis vulgaris treated in the Department of Dermatology of the former Armed Police General Hospital between November 2014 to October 2018 were collected as the patient group, while another 30 normal skin specimens removed by plastic surgery were collected as the control group. The expressions of BLT1 and BLT2 in psoriasis patients and normal skin epidermis were detected using the three-step streptomycin-biotin peroxidase (S-P) method, while the average integrated optical density (AIOD) of a positive staining area in each visual field was measured by image-Pro Plus6.0 software system.Independent sample T test was used to analyze the difference in the BLT1 and BLT2 expression intensity between psoriasis patients and normal skin. Results BLT1 and BLT2 were mainly expressed in the spinous layer in the epidermis of psoriasis vulgaris, but in the basal layer of normal skin.Compared with normal skin, the expressions of BLT1 and BLT2 in psoriasis vulgaris epidermis were significantly increased (P<0.05). Conclusions Leukotriene B4 receptors BLT1 and BLT2 are highly expressed in the epidermal spinous layer of psoriasis vulgaris, suggesting that the two receptors may be related to the epidermal hyperproliferation of psoriasis vulgaris.
