Application of multi-planar reconstruction with high resolution CT in diagnosis of acute appendicitis |

Abstract Objective To evaluate the clinical value of multi-planar reconstruction with high resolution CT in the diagnosis of suspected acute appendicitis.Methods High resolution CT scanning was performed on 138 military patients with suspected acute appendicitis. The observation group were diagnosed according to conventional axial CT image combined with multi-planar reconstruction post-processing technology. In the control group, the diagnosis was only based on CT axial images. The diagnosis results of the two groups were compared with postoperative pathological results or discharge diagnosis.Results Among 138 military patients with suspected acute appendicitis, the pathological results showed that 123 patients were positive and 15 patients were negative. Observation group: true positive in 120 cases, true negative in 13 cases, false negative in 2 cases, false positive in 3 cases. Control group: true positive in 104 cases, true negative in 7 cases, false negative in 8 cases, false positive in 19 cases. The results of statistical analysis showed that the diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, accuracy and negative predictive value of the observation group were better than those of the control group(P<0.05), while there was no significant difference in positive predictive value between the two groups.Conclusions The multi-planar reconstruction technique of high resolution CT which can improve the clinical diagnosis ability of suspected acute appendicitis is characterized by independent auxiliary diagnostic value.
