Abstract Objective To investigate the efficacy of chitosan hemostatic powder in the treatment of superficial skin injury in officers and soldiers. Methods A total of 102 soldiers who suffered superficial skin injuries during special operations and mobile training from June 2019 to May 2022 were randomly divided into test group and control group according to their certificate number, and were also divided into hand injury group and body injury group according to different injury sites. The wounded in all the groups were treated with iodophor and exposed to the affected areas. The test group was treated with chitosan hemostatic powder to form scabs naturally for dry healing. The pain of the patients treated with iodophor and chitosan was compared, and the time of scab formation and scab shedding was compared between the two groups under different injury sites. Results After the application of chitosan hemostatic powder, the pain degree was mild and the tolerance was good. The duration of scab in the hand injury test group [(12.89±5.33) h]was significantly shorter than that in the hand injury control group[ (16.36±4.77) h], and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The duration of scab formation[ (21.14±10.38) h] and the duration of scab removal[(15.14±1.51 ) d] in the body injury test group were significantly shorter than those in the control group[(28.50±11.86) h and (17.44±2.25) d], and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusions Chitosan hemostatic powder is effective in the treatment of superficial skin, which is characterized by fast scab, less pain and fast healing.
