Effect of low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation combined with normal saline in treatment of throat hemangioma |

Abstract Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of local injection of normal saline combined with low-temperature plasma knife radiofrequency ablation in the treatment of throat hemangioma. Methods The clinical data of 40 patients with throat hemangioma treated by radiofrequency ablation with low temperature plasma knife after local injection of normal saline in the Third Medical Center of PLA General Hospital and Chuiyangliu Hospital Affiliated to Tsinghua University from January 2009 to September 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Results The laryngeal hemangioma was ablated in all 40 cases, and there was no obvious intraoperative bleeding during operation. The postoperative follow-up for 6 to 12 months showed no recurrence or complications such as cycloarytenoid joint movement disorder, dyspnea, dysphagia, etc. The symptoms of foreign body sensation in the pharynx, dysphagia, bloodline in sputum, and hoarseness existed before surgery gradually disappeared. Conclusions Low-temperature plasma surgery can give full play to the technical advantages in the treatment of throat hemangioma, and the ablation combined with local injection of normal saline can reduce the risk of bleeding and shorten the operation time, which has the characteristics of simple operation and economic benefits, and can achieve better control of local tumors while preserving laryngopharyngeal function.
