Abstract:Objective To evaluate the left ventricular myocardial function using ultrasonic two-dimensional speckles tracing imaging technology(STI) in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism(SHPT). Methods Thirty healthy volumteers(control group) and ninety patients with chronic renal failure(CRF) were enrolled in the study. Ninety patients with CRF were divided into 2 groups: 60 patients with SHPT (trial group),30 patients with normal PTH(observed group). The two-dimensional images were obtained from GE Vivid 7 Dimension echocardiograph and two-dimensional radial strain(SR) and circumferential strain(CS) were analyzed on GE Echo PAC system.Left ventricular peak SR and CS values of basel plane, papillary muscle plane and apical plane during systole were measured. Results In the same level, the CS values of anteroseptal segment were higher than those of the other segments in the control group.Compared with the control group, the ventricular peak SR and CS values in part of segments were lower in trial group (P<0.05). Conclusions Left ventricular overall myocardial function in patients with SHPT can be evaluated accurately by STI.
