Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of α-crystallin on the survival and proliferation of olfactory ensheating cells(OECs) in vitro. Methods OECs were cultured and treated with α-crystallin in DMEM/F12 or DMEM/F12 only. The number of surviving OECs was counte for after cultured 5days. The number of Brdu-labeled OECs was counted after Brdu was added in DMEM/F12. And cell cycle was analyzed by flow cytometry. Results α-crystallin promoted the survival of OECs at 6-13 days. The Brdu-labeled OECs in α-crystallin group was more in number than in control group. And the cell percentage of G2/M state and S state was higher in α-crystallin group than in control group. Conclusions α-crystallin promotes OECs survival and proliferation.
