Abstract:Objective To study the clinical use of free latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap for the treatment of advanced Marjolin’s ulcer in the scalp. Methods From October 2009 to September 2012, five patients with large advanced Marjolin’s ulcer of the scalp were treated in this department. The size of the skin defects ranged from 6 cm×8 cm to 11 cm×10 cm, all with skull defects. Free latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap is used for reconstruction of the defect after extensive resection of the ulcer. Results All the flaps survived with no complications after surgery. Conclusions Free lutissimus dorsi myocataneous flap was a good option for the treatment of advanced Marjolin’s ulcer in the scalp.
