Abstract:Objective To investigate the application value of one-time connection tube in the ultrasound intervention treatment of liver and kidney cysts. Methods The clinical data of 312 patients with simple hepatic and renal cysts with 4~6 cm in diameter treated under ultrasound guidance were analyzed retrospectively. In the course of treatment, one-time connection tube was used in 172 cases (connection-tube group) and not used in 140 cases (control group). All patients were treated by percutaneous injection of ethanol under ultrasound guidance. After 6 months all patients were examined by ultrasound. The differences in efficacy was evaluated by the criteria of cyst complete disappearance as cured, cyst diameter reduced more 1/2 as effective, cyst diameter reduced less 1/2, or no change as ineffective. Results In the connection-tube group, 161 patients were cured and 11 were effective. In the control group 100, 31 and 9 ones were cured, effective and ineffective, respectively. There was statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.005). Conclusions One-time connection tube prevents gas entering and prevents the needle moving in the ethanol irrigation treatment of liver and kidney cyst under ultrasound guidance. It improves the efficacy significantly and has important application value.
