Abstract:Objective To analyze the correlation of stroke position, degree of neurological deficit and sleep disorders. Methods 120 patients with stroke were recruited, the patients’ quality of sleep was assessed ,using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) ,were compared differences in the quality of sleep according to parts of stroke and varying degrees of neurological deficits. Results (1)Of 120 stroke patients 108 (90%) had sleep disorders,of whom 62 had mild PSQI points, 35 moderate, and 11 severe; mean PSQI score was 10.73±1.36. (2) The degree of sleep disorders was related to neurological deficits, more severe neurological deficits had higher PSQI points, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01 or P<0.05). (3)The degree of sleep disorders was related to parts of stroke, the basal ganglia were higher related than the cortex(P<0.05). Conclusions Sleep disorders are a common complication of stroke patients; sleep disorders are related to stroke position and the degree of neurological deficit.
