Objective To evaluate the physical conditions of soldiers in the Armed Police Force who were garrisoned on the plateau so as to provide reference for medical services. Methods According to the results of a physical examination conducted among 768 soldiers on the plateau, the subjects were divided into the recruit group (less than one year of military service) and the veteran group (over a year of military service). The data was statistically analyzed. Results The value of HGB in the recruit group(161.45±10.03)g/L was significantly lower than that in the veteran group(170.34±12.84)g/L(P<0.05). Meanwhile, the percentage of abnormal ECG in the recruit group(10.79%) declined more dramatically than in the veteran group(44.81%) (P<0.05),while the positive rate of urine protein was not statistically different. Conclusions The plateau environment has an impact on the soldiers’ health. Physical examinations should be conducted according to the characteristics of plateau tropps.Soldiers who are garrisoned on the plateau for a long time should be replaced regularly. Training is to be planned in a proper way and soldiers should become better informed of knowledge of health.
