Analysis of 1653 electrocardiograms of rural residents in remote areas in Guangxi

Abstract:Objective To find out about the electrocardiograms (ECGs)of rural residents in remote areas in Guangxi in order to provide data for prevention of cardiovascular diseases among rural residents in the future.Methods Betweem October 2015 and March 2017, residents of ten villages and towns in Guangxi were subjected to an ECG examination in a mobile module hospital of the Armed Police.Results A total of 1653 rural residents underwent the ECG examination, and 575 residents (34.79%) had abnormal ECGs, in which ST-T change, sinus arrhythmia and conduction abnormality were relatively common. The incidence of abnormal ECGs tended to increase with age (P<0.01), and was higher among male elders than among female ones (P<0.05).Conclusions The incidence of abnormal ECGs is high in Guangxi rural residents and increases with age.
