Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlations between nurses' sleep quality, social support and stress overload in the Department of Oncology of a Class A hospital of Grade Ⅲ in Beijing in order to help improve nurses' sleep quality and their nursing quality.Methods A total of 226 nurses for patients of oncology were investigated using the general information questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scale, Stress Overload Scale and Social Support Rating Scale. Correlation analysis was used to investigate the relationships between sleep quality, stress overload and social support.Results The score of PSQI was(7.27±2.994). Social support, subjective support, personality vulnerability and event load entered the multiple linear regression equation.Conclusions The sleep quality of oncology nurses is relatively poor. Social support and subjective support have some effect. Personality vulnerability and event load are the main factors that influence their sleep quality. Executives of hospitals are advised to pay more attention to the physical and mental health of nurses, reduce their stress, and improve their sleep quality so that nurses can stay in their best condition.
