The patients of the combination group were treated with both 415 nm blue light and 5% benzoyl peroxide gel while the blue light group and the medication group were treated with 415nm blue light and 5% benzoyl peroxide gel respectively. The clinical effect was observed after 8 weeks of treatment. Results The effective rate of the combination group was 83.3%, compared with 30.0% and 56.7% respectively in the blue light group and drug group. Besides, the adverse reactions were mild and tolerable in the combination group. Conclusions The combination of 415 nm blue light and 5% benzoyl peroxide gel is an effective and safe approach to acne vulgaris.
