Abstract:Objective To investigate the cognition level of genital tract infection and the demand of reproductive health knowledge in coast guard recruits to provide theoretical basis of reproductive health education system of coast guard recruits. Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted among 812 coast guard recruits who joined the army in 2022. Results The effective questionnaire recovery rate was 95.57%. Only 25.90% of the recruits had a certain understanding of the common reproductive system diseases, while 66.49% of the recruits could not comprehensively knew the symptoms of male reproductive tract infection. Among all the recruits, 94.72% considered it necessary to carry out reproductive health education. More than 90% of the recruits were eager to acquire knowledge of reproductive health, and the desirable modes were on-site lectures, online teaching, online articles, book or CD, and friends or relatives. Conclusions There is a general lack of reproductive health knowledge among coast guard recruits, and the cognition of common reproductive system diseases is not comprehensive and systematic. Reproductive health education based on the characteristics of coast guard recruits is needed to provide a strong guarantee for the improvement of combat effectiveness.
