Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) on the occurrence of premature rupture of membranes of GBS women in the late trimester of pregnancy. Methods One hundred and fourteen pregnant women who had been hospitalized and detected as GBS positive carriers between June and November of 2017 in the Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Baoding were selected as subjects and classified into premature rupture of membrane group (31 cases) and non-premature rupture of membrane group (83 cases) based on the occurrence of premature rupture of membranes. The difference of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) was compared between the two groups. Results NLR value of the premature rupture of membrane group (the median value was 4.10, and the quartile range was 3.34-4.78) was higher than that of the non-premature rupture of membrane group (the median value was 3.56, and the quartile range was 2.86-4.36), so the difference was of statistical significance(P=0.019).Multivariate logistic analysis showed that NLR was an independent prognostic factor for premature rupture of membrane for GBS pregnant women.Patients with higher values of NLR were 3.029 times as vulnerable to premature rupture of membrane as those with lower NLR values(CI of 95% of the patients ranged from 1.203 to 7.632; P=0.019).Conclusions NLR is an independent prognostic factor for premature rupture of membrane among GBS pregnant women. For those GBS pregnant women with higher NLR values, better care is needed, and early preventive measures should be taken to prevent premature rupture of membrane.
