Abstract Objective To establish a method of determining the effective component of Polygonum multiflorum in lipid-lowering drink particles. Methods HPLC method was used with octadecyl silane bonded silica as a filler and with acetonitrile water(25∶75)as the mobile phase. The detection wavelength was set at 320 nm; the column temperature was 25 ℃ at a flow rate of 1.0 ml/min. Results 2,3,5,4- tetrahydroxy-stilbene-2-0-β-D -glucoside in the 0.05-0.625 μg range showed a good linear relationship. The sample separation was good, with no interference and sample stability in the negative was good. Conclusions The method is user-friendly and accurate with a good reproducibility. It can be used to determine the content of 2,3,5,4′-tetrahydroxy diphenyl ethylene-2-0-β-D-glucoside.
